On May 1st, 2009, the new Converse.com launched. The challenge: inspire and provoke the creative spirit of the “Optimistic Rebel”, building community, and sparking originality. And of course, sell lots of shoes. Which is no easy feat, since Converse is so many things to so many people.

For inspiration, we looked no further than the iconic shoes, the Chuck Taylor itself. Honest and straightforward in design, it has been the ultimate blank canvas for self expression for over a century. Endlessly shredded, muddied, painted, pinned and made your own.

The new Converse.com embodies all the values of the Chuck. The site was designed to be simple, familiar, and expressive. People come for an easy and intuitive way to shop and leave with a little something extra. Something they haven’t heard before. Something they haven’t seen, or thought about. When you love Chucks, you usually have something to say. Now there’s a place to say it.

And for the artist in all of us, the new and improved Converse One let’s you customize your kicks in more ways than ever. Every month thousands of people come to design and share their latest creations.
